Type, typeholders and/or numbering machines for hot-stamp coding are placed in a typeholder. Typeholders are designed according to customer specifications and are registered with serial numbers.

Standard type is available in bronze letter type in font heights of 2, 3, 3.8 and 5 mm. The advantage of type is that it is easy to replace and can be randomly combined. Type is suitable for printing date codes, lot numbers, batch numbers and short text. Elmoprint always stocks a wide selection of standard type, so we can deliver overnight.

On request, special fonts of every kind are manufactured, such as BEST BEFORE, Arabic, Cyrillic, Greek and Chinese text, or small labels like oval labels (EEC numbers) for dairies and slaughterhouses. Steel type, T-track type and type for printing on concave, convex or spherical surfaces are also available. For printing logos, labels, barcodes, and longer texts, such as lists of ingredients, we use typeholders with a 4-mm etched or engraved magnesium or bronze plate.

For date coding or lot and batch numbering, where the print is only a single line with a predefined format, it can be advantageous to use a numbering machine with wheels that can easily be rotated and thus adjusted, rather than having to replace the type.

Typeholders can also be used for holding clichés or numbering machines, and it is also possible to combine type, clichés and numbering machines on the same typeholder. Elmoprint designs typeholders according to our customer needs and specifications. Typeholders have a non-thermal-conducting handle and can easily be removed from the printer after which it is possible to replace type and/or clichés.
