For in-line coding of packaging, Elmoprint ApS Maskinfabrik offers the ICE Torus Plus inkjet printer.
The ICE Torus Plus is a further development of the ICE Torus, which Elmoprint has been selling since 2004, thereby making this thoroughly tested technology even better.
As a brand-new feature, it is possible to connect the unit to an external touch screen that can be placed in a convenient operator-friendly position, e.g. protected by safety shielding.
Inkjet printers print by spraying minute quantities of oil-based ink directly onto absorbent surfaces like cardboard, paper, corrugated cardboard, polystyrene, wood, etc., and can print all sorts of information.
• “best before” dates/time/date and lot coding
• fixed or variable text
• barcodes, graphics and logos
• counters and product data
Regardless of whether simple “best before” dates, barcodes or lists of ingredients need to be printed, inkjet printers can largely replace hot-stamp and rolling code technology with higher printing quality, lower costs and online digital labelling.
The ICE Torus Plus printhead is available in three different sizes: 17 mm, 52 mm and 70 mm.
The ICE Torus can be configured for a master/slave set-up where all printers are controlled from the same touch screen.
The master/slave capability can be used for multi-surface labelling of packaging, for instance.
The Torus automatic self-cleaning system ensures that the printheads are protected against dust, fragments and particles, which otherwise cause downtime and reduce print quality on other types of printer.
Below are just a few of the unique features of the ICE Torus Plus:
• unique self-cleaning printhead system (patented)
• no ink waste (mess), no preheating time, no production stoppages for manual cleaning
• efficient utilisation of ink minimises the price per print
• no deterioration of print, logo or barcode quality
• large touch screen with simple and easy access for switching jobs, information, text, graphics, etc.
• oil-based ink, provides barcode classes A–C on white surfaces and B–D on brown
