Elmoprint sells the ICE Zodiac+ 2″ and 4″ thermal-transfer coder for in-line installation in packing and labelling machinery.
These thermal-transfer printers can print the following directly onto film, bags or labels:
  • “Best before” dates/time/date and lot coding
  • Fixed or variable text
  • Barcodes, graphics and logos
  • Counters and product data
Regardless of whether simple “best before” dates, barcodes or lists of ingredients need to be printed, thermal transfer has largely replaced hot-stamping and rolling code technology with higher printing quality, lower costs and online digital coding.

Traceability: labelling and data capture
Traceability has received a great deal of attention in recent years. Well-functioning traceability gives peace-of-mind to one’s end-customers, as they feel assured that a manufacturer can react quickly and will take back only the relevant and affected product consignments. Or perform any repairs if problems arise with a product. In addition, well-functioning traceability minimises the manufacturer’s financial loss, as it enables the manufacturer to limit recalls and repairs by being able to single out the specific production batch where the problem was discovered.
