Hot-stamping is the best solution in harsh environments with high humidity, low temperatures or lots of dust. Hot-stamp coders are also used for labelling workpieces, materials or surfaces where electronic printers are unsuitable or too expensive to operate.

Hot-stamp coders cost less to buy and maintain than the newer generation of thermal transfer coders. Many people mistakenly believe that traceability is not possible with hot-stamp coders. Traceability is indeed possible, however, by stamping items with consecutive numbers using a numbering machine.

Hot-stamp coders are made of aluminium and stainless steel for use in demanding environments, and their reliability makes them suitable wherever a high level of operational stability is required. The principle of hot-stamping is to apply ink by using a heated metal stamp to press an ink-coated film (hot foil) against an item (e.g. packing film).

Besides pigment, the ink contains an adhesive that quickly solidifies as soon as the metal stamp leaves the surface. The ink is never wet, never rubs off and provides a distinct easy-to-read print that is not water or grease soluble. The metal stamp can be adapted to user needs by customising the construction of type, typeholders and numbering machines.

The M30 is a small, compact hot-stamp coder that meets the need for printing date codes, batch numbers, etc., and it is suitable for being built into label dispensers. It is available in several models, e.g. with a cartridge for quick hot-foil replacement.
The M40, M80, M100, M150 and M200 are our standard hot-stamp coders in various sizes (print area and printing pressure). They are suitable for being built into most packing machines or for use as table models for manual feeding of the items to be printed.
The M1100 series comprises hot-stamp coders designed for being built into deep-drawing machinery. In addition to the classic M1100, M1200 and M1400, which have sufficient printing force to print lists of ingredients, etc.

Elmoprint also manufactures a range of lighter MH1100 hot-stamp coders for jobs where only one or two dates need to be printed on each package.

We will gladly custom-design hot-stamp coders for special purposes. Elmoprint is also pleased to manufacture and deliver racks and other mounting equipment for installing our coders in packing machines and label dispensers.
